Clontarf Junior Swimming Club
Clontarf Junior Swimming Club provides swimming lessons for children from 4 years of age and upwards. Our classes are in CRC, Clontarf and Northside Swimming Pool on the Oscar Traynor Road. We also have expert level swimming class and Adult lane swimming. Recently we have developed a specialist group for children starting swimming a little later than our normal toddlers. This is a small group of older children who get individual attention with a view to accelerating them into our mainstream classes.
Our teachers are affilitiated with Swim Ireland or with the Swimming Teachers Association and have considerable experience in the teaching and coaching fields. Our students are graded according to ability and matched with a suitable teacher. For our beginner swimmers, we have helpers in the water to encourage them along!
Swimmings skills in our classes are learnt in a formal yet fun manner. We adopt a teaching technique which is unique and effective. Our classes have a period of formal instruction followed by a period of 'Play Time'. After each class we present a small award to our 'swimmer of the day'. At Christmas we hold an informal swim competition where all swimmers receive a prize. If Santa doesn't have a busy schedule, he generally comes to present the prizes at our Christmas competition ! Occassionally we have open swimming days where all family members join us in the pool.
People ask us what makes us different. The answer is that I know that we have a group of teachers who are effective communicators who have an individual interest in each swimmer. Speak to people who have been in our classes. They will tell you that our teaching methodology is by no means passive. We are unique in that a lot of our teachers are former competitive swimmers and have academic qualifications in the Education field, up as far as Masters level. This means that we understand effective learning and that our teaching techniques are innovative and unique.
Stick with us for a few terms and we guarantee that you or your child will perfect a technique and swimming style that is unique to our club. Regardless of your child's swimming experience, we will provide encouragement and advice to progress their skills in the water. This is because we have the top swimming tutors, all of which have a wide range of relevant experience. More importantly, we are confident that our teachers can effectively pass on this experience to the swimmers in our Club.
