Clontarf Swim classes in Clontarf

Our latest advice unfortunately, is that we are unable to resume classes in our Clontarf location at the beginning of September.

It appears that CRC are concentrating on reopening the school attached to the complex. After that they will focus on the swimming pool with a view to facilitating the resumption of our classes. We will continue to deal with CRC with a view to getting all children back in the water as soon as possible. A bulletin will issue as soon as we have more information.

Clontarf Swim Classes in Northside Swimming Pool

Tuesday 6 to 6.45 pm -       This class will resume on 1/09/2020. Please note that                                                        on a temporary basis this class will run from

                                                6.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

Wednesday 6 to 6.45 pm - This class will resume on 2/09/2020

Wednesday 8 to 8.45 pm - Unfortunately we do not have a resumption date for this                                                 class yet. Currently pool management are using this                                                         time slot to sanitise the pool area before closing the                                                         complex.

If your child is returning to our Tuesday or Wednesday Northside classes you should read and note the details in our Covid 19 Safety Statement as detailed below.

Return to Swimming Lessons Policy – Northside Swimming Pool

Our policy is based on the latest advice from Swim Ireland as of 19th August, 2020 and is in line with the Swim Ireland Roadmap of Reopening Phases and Government regulations. These arrangements are fluid and we may at anytime update them to reflect changes in expert advice and the current climate.

All Parents must refer to the website of Clontarf Swim (www.clontarfswim.com) and be familiar with the various policies associated with our swim school. In particular pay attention to the area of this document which deals with Instructions for entering and exiting the swimming pool complex.

In the event that you have any additional enquiries, please contact any of our teachers at the swimming pool.

General notes on our return to water policy

Northside Swimming Pool in line with Dublin City Council have been implementing government guidelines. You will notice a significant amount of signage around the complex and various preparations to facilitate social distancing and best practice for the prevention of the spread of Covid 19.

On a temporary basis the following measures are in operation in Northside Swimming Pool. These are in support of the Government’s recommendations and to ensure a social distancing policy: -

Tuesday Class is from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. The beginner’s group will finish promptly at 7.10 pm. The Improvers and Advanced Groups will finish after 45 minutes at 7.15 pm.

Wednesday class is as normal from 6.00 to 6.45 pm. The beginner’s group will finish promptly at 6.40 pm. The Improvers and Advanced Groups will finish after 45 minutes at 6.45 pm.

No showers are in operation.

No baskets are available to hold clothes.

Previously each class began with a 5 minute period of ‘play time’. While there is a requirement to socially distance, the period of ‘play time’ will no longer take place.

The number of spectators permitted on the poolside is extremely limited. In the event that it is necessary for a Parent to attend at the pool then only 1 Parent is permitted per swimmer.

Any spectator entering the pool complex must wear a protective mask.

Ideally drop your child at the pool, change them and leave the premises until it is time to collect them. Wait outside in your car or in an area where it is possible to practice social distancing. In the unlikely event that something happens, we will call you on your phone.

Particular attention should be paid to the details below which set out how you are to enter and exit the pool complex.

All beginners must arrive at the pool with their swim suits on (please refer to instructions below).

In general however Parent’s are encouraged to have their children in their swim suits before they arrive at the pool. Suitable clothing should be worn which will facilitate a quick entry to the water and also a speedy exit from the pool complex.

Please change your child and exit the pool complex as quickly as possible. Don’t congregate.

Instructions for entering and exiting the swimming pool complex

Beginner's Group

  • Previously each class began with a 5 minute period of ‘play time’. While there is a requirement to socially distance, the period of ‘play time’ will no longer take place.

  • Parents of beginner level children should bring their children to the pool, pre changed and in their swimsuits with suitable clothing e.g. track suit / dressing robe. This will facilitate a quick entry into the water and a quick exit from the water and the pool complex. The preference is that beginner swimmers get changed on the poolside but please note our Child Protection policy at the next point.

  • In line with our Child Protection policy please note the following. If you are not removing your child's swimsuit you can use the pool side to change your child before and after the swim class. If you are removing your child's swim suit you must use the changing rooms to get your child ready.

  • On arrival at the swimming pool Parent’s of beginner level children should proceed directly to the pool area and use one of the numbered stations at the side of the pool to change their child. Each beginners group will use the side of the swimming pool where they normally participate in their lesson.

  • Beginners getting changed will see their swimming teacher at the side of the pool. They should get changed at one of the numbered stations beside their teacher.

  •  Clothing items should be left at the numbered stations to facility a quick exit from the premises.

  • Parent’s should if possible exit the pool area once their child is under the supervision of their swimming teacher.

  • Children will remain on the poolside until the teacher is in a position to begin the formal lesson and instructs them to enter the water.

  • Both beginner’s groups will assemble on opposite sides of the pool near their teacher (at shallow end of the pool).

  • The beginners group will end immediately after 40 minutes.

  • At this stage the beginner’s groups will be instructed to leave the pool.

  • Parent’s should be ready to change their children after 40 minutes at the numbered station where their child’s clothing is or in the changing room if appropriate.

  • Children should be changed as quickly as possible and then exit the pool complex with their Parent. We are unable to remove our other groups from the water until Parent’s and beginners have left the premises.

Improvers and Advanced Groups

  • Previously each class began with a 5 minute period of ‘play time’. While there is a requirement to socially distance, the period of ‘play time’ will no longer take place.

  • In general Parents are advised to bring their children to the pool, pre changed and in their swimsuits with suitable clothing e.g. track suit / dressing robe. This will facilitate a quick entry into the water and a quick exit from the water and the pool complex.

  • Improver and Advanced level children should use the normal changing areas in the pool. There are numbered stations in the changing areas and children should use these stations to change. The correct approach is to get changed immediately beneath the number which ensures effective social distancing. You should note that baskets to hold clothing items are not in use during the Covid 19 period.

  • After changing Improver and Advanced level swimmers should remain in the changing area. A teacher will enter the changing area and instruct the swimmers to enter the pool area when ready.

  • Improver swimmers will then be led by the swimming teacher to the deep end of the pool in preparation for the swimming class.

  • Advanced swimmers will assemble in the shallow end of the pool in preparation for the beginning of the class.

  • Parents should if possible, exit the pool area once their child is under the supervision of      their swimming teacher.

  • Children will remain on the poolside until the teacher is in a position to begin the formal lesson and instructs them to enter the water.

  • On completion of the lesson, children will be instructed to leave the swimming pool and to change as quickly as possible.
